Have we surpassed the peak of coronavirus?

Damascus (ST): Some hospitals have registered a decrease in the number of  coronavirus patients   at the time doctors and specialists affirm that we haven’t reached the peak of the pandemic yet, stressing the necessity of adhering to the precautionary measures.

The Medical Director of Damascus Hospital Dr. Ahmad Abbas said that the number of patients who came to the hospital with suspected infections has retreated remarkably at a rate of 60%. But he warned that this does not mean neglecting the precautionary measures.

He added that the most common symptom of the infection is still the high temperature followed by respiratory and digestive symptoms.

Head of Combatting Respiratory Diseases Centre in Hama Dr. Bassel al-Thaher said that it is very difficult to determine whether we reached the peak or not.  He added that a remarkable decrease of the number of patients who came to hospitals suspected of having the  coronavirus was registered during the past few days.

He went on to say that all citizens should help in curbing the spread of the fatal virus through wearing masks and avoiding crowded places.
