HASAKAH, Jun.5, (ST)- Few days after the start of harvesting the wheat crop for the current season, the Hasakah farmers harvested 1100 hectares out of 95000 hectares in various areas of agricultural stability in the province.
The head of the plant production department in the Al-Hasakah Agriculture Directorate, Jalal Bilal, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the harvesting of the irrigated wheat started from the southern and eastern countryside of the cities of al-Hasakah and Qamishli, and reached the peak after mid-June, to include the northern and western countryside.
Bilal clarified that the harvestable area planted with irrigated wheat is about 95 thousand hectares,” noting that “the area planted with rain-fed wheat was out of production, with an area of up to 233,000 hectares, as a result of drought and the cessation of rain during the month of April.
The number of combine harvesters participating in the harvesting in Hasakah province is 158, according to Bilal.
