The Directorate of Agriculture in Hasakah province has stated that the wheat and barley crops are growing well in the agriculturally stable areas.
Director of the Plant Production Department at the Directorate Jalal Bilal told SANA that recent rainfalls in all areas of the province were good and they have contributed to germinating the wheat and barley seeds planted in rain-fed and irrigated lands, particularly the seeds that were planted early. He clarified that the foggy and relatively warm weather will contribute to the continued improvement of the plants’ growth during the coming period, particularly as the soil retains its moisture.
Bilal pointed out that the current weather conditions encourage the farmers to continue in cultivating their lands with wheat and barley as well as some with other crops like legume and aromatic plants.
It is to be noted that the area allocated for planting wheat and barley in Hasakah for the current season exceeds a million hectares.
