Hasaka (ST): As the Turkish occupation forces continue to cut water for about one million people in Hasaka city and have  stopped the  pumping process  from Alouk water station in Ras al-Ein, locals are cooperating with the concerned state bodies to obtain a temporary water supply .

The scene of manual drilling in Haska’s streets and its neighborhoods has become normal and even a pressing need to ensure water as emergency solutions. Citizen Abdullah Yousef  said that each well secures water for several houses, while Salah Hussein said that majority of the citizens in Hasaka city are  depending on surface well water, adding that drinking water is being bought at high prices and calling on international organizations to put pressure on the Turkish regime and its mercenaries to halt such aggressive practices.

Abu Ahmad, who works in digging wells, said  that tens of wells were dug in Hasaka over the past days.  He referred to the many wells, noting that  their depth ranges between 10 and 15 meters,  and they have been put into service.

The Director of Water resources in Hasaka, Abdel Razzaq al-Awak said that most of surface wells feed from the leaked underground water from al-Khabour River, and they do not affect the underground water because most of the renewable water is located in al-Amal al-Aowla area in Ras al-Ein, noting that water resources witnessed remarkable improvement thanks to the heavy rainfall rate during the past few years.

Director General of Water Establishment in Hasaka Mahmoud al-Okla said  that the wells alleviated  people’s suffering , noting that his  establishment would transfer drinking water by tankers to the neighborhoods from Nafasha and Albarak wells to ensure supplies of drinking water as an emergency solution. He underlined that an emergency response plan, in coordination with the international organizations, was put to ensure  drinking water to the neighborhoods by tankers until the problem of Alouk water plant is resolved.

Since the beginning of the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories last October, the Turkish occupation forces have cut off   water from Alouk station 17 times.
