(Hands off Syria): The blockade on Syria is a war crime and violates human rights and all international laws

Vienna (ST): The Solidarity Gathering (Hands off Syria) renewed its demand to lift all unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, stressing that the unjust siege on the Syrian people violates basic human rights and all international laws.

In a statement delivered to the European Commission office in Vienna , the gathering said: “The sanctions are not only a violation of international law, but are a war crime and a crime against humanity. We demand the immediate lifting of sanctions and a stop to  the economic war against Syria, which now does not need crocodile tears, nor donations, but only an end to the siege of starvation.

The gathering called on the West to move away from double standards and change its foreign policies, because Western politics and diplomacy can no longer hide behind empty phrases, pointing out that the European Union does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize because it imposes sanctions on the Syrian people, noting that those who support the sanctions encourage the mass killing of the civilian population.
