“Hands off Syria”: The blockade on Syria amounts to mass murder, it must stop

Vienna, (ST) – The “Hands off Syria” solidarity Coalition has called for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria and allowing the rapid delivery of aid to those affected by the devastating earthquake that hit the country at dawn on Monday.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Coalition indicated that the difficult circumstances that the Syrians are going through are not the result of the earthquake only, but also the result of the unilateral sanctions that have been imposed on the Syrian people since 2011 as well as the military aggression and the terrorist war supported by Washington and the European Union”.

The coalition warned that the continuous imposition of sanctions mean more tragedies, the absence of equipment to deal with the repercussions of the earthquake and save people and the absence of sufficient funds to adequately care for survivors.

The statement stressed that the blockade imposed on Syria in the light of the current circumtances is tantamount to mass killing, and it must be stopped.

The coalition called for organizing a stand tomorrow in Vienna in solidarity with all those affected by the earthquake and to demand lifting the sancations.
