GENEVA (ST) _Syria confirmed that the International Investigation Committee on Syria continues to depend in its work on false testimonies of fugitive persons wanted in criminal cases, living in neighboring countries ,or media information by sources hostile to Syria, a matter made the reports . mere messages of support for Takfiri extremists.
Syria Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Faisal al-Hamwi, said in a statement delivered before the Human Rights Council in response to the report of the International Investigation Committee that the report of the Special Rapporteur on Internal Displacement yesterday: ” We advised the Committee since the beginning of its work not to fall into these bumps , but ” to abide by truth and objectivity and provided it and the Office of the High Committee with more than 250 documents refuting the allegations of the parties involved in the shedding of Syrian blood , but ” the Committee continued to ignore all that and opted to continue politicization and exaggeration . “
Hamwi added that the Committee recognized in paragraph 14 of its report, which he quotes “The existence of outer supporters for the armed groups , providing them with the political cover , financial aid and military equipment, a matter which changed the conflict in Syria into a proxy war for regional and international interests ,” adding that the Committee also recognized in paragraph 33 that ” these supporters are pushing the fighters to extremism”.
He explained that the Committee also continued to ignore the negative impact of the unfair economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people , which caused many economic and social crises , the migration of citizens to neighboring countries or internal displacement .
Hamwi regretted the committee claim of the responsibility of the Syrian government for what it called a number of “massacres” and then saying that the evidence and circumstances surrounding the massacres were not sufficient to determine the responsibility of the perpetrators , ” and this is not professional and quite apart from the principles of International human rights organizations .”
He refuted allegations of the committee ‘s report about Syria’s destruction of its health facilities , emphasizing that this is “mere cheap misleading ” because there is no country in the world destroys its infrastructure , besides that Syria respects more than others its obligations towards the international humanitarian law and the relevant Geneva Conventions and does not need a certificate of good conduct from the Committee.
Hamwi added that the committee ignored in its recommendations , which are mostly outside the scope of its mandate , ” the principle of the state ‘s right to protect its people, which is a fundamental principle in the international law ” , and did not “see nor hear the horrors and massacres of al-Qaeda members and other takfirists in the areas , they are attacking , the slaughtering and public executions in front of children , women and families of the victims , and ” also ignored the hysterical moves by States inciting murder in my country whenever international signs are loomed towards a political solution based on national dialogue between the Syrians ” . Hamwi explained that this immoral role by these countries will lead to a serious setback to the principle of resorting to the international law and respect for the UN Charter.
As for the report of the Special Rapporteur on the Internally Displaced , Hamwi confirmed that Syria cooperated with it fully and extended an invitation to it since three months to visit Syria, ” but it has not yet made the visit for reasons we do not know”, calling on the Rapporteur to announce openly before the Council the reasons for not visiting Syria, and expressing regret at the adoption of the decision based on selective and politicized information that lacks credibility “.
He also regretted that the Rapporteur ignored the fact that the two main reasons for internal displacement in Syria are terrorist operations committed by takfirist groups on the basis of hateful sectarianism of the peaceful population ” and illegal sanctions targeting the Syrian people in their living , health, education needs and other basic rights.
