HAMA, JAN.25, (ST)- Today, the branch of the Bar Association in Hama, in cooperation with various popular activities, organized a protest in front of the governorate’s headquarters in Al-Asi Square in the city of Hama, to demand the lifting of international sanctions imposed on Syria since the reasons for imposing them no longer exist after the downfall of the former regime.
The protesters raised banners emphasizing that the continuation of the U.S. and EU sanctions imposed on Syria are causing great suffering to the Syrian people, especially children.
They called on the U.S., the European Union, and the international community to lift these unjust sanctions immediately, so that the people could rebuild the country and turn the page of the injustice, killing, and sabotage that the former regime was practicing against its people and country.
In a statement to the correspondent of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the head of the Hama Bar Association branch council, Ahmed Badi, said that the international community must work on lifting the unjust sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, as long as the reason for imposing them, i.e. the defunct regime no longer exists.
“ The continuation of sanctions is unjustified, undermines the efforts to rebuild Syria, obstruct efforts, projects and initiatives to improve the lives of Syrians and alleviate their suffering.
