Halting Saudi support for lunatic terrorists, pre-requisite for political solution
It is well-known for all observers that the princes of Al-Saud have been playing a devastating role in the crisis in Syria through various ways. From the very beginning of the crisis, the princes of Al-Saud started to allocate huge funds to support the takfiri terrorists coming from more than 83 states to kill Syrian people and destroy Syria’s infrastructure. The princes of Al-Saud are still fanning the flames of turmoil in Syria. They have not halted supporting terrorist groups in Syria. Counter-terrorism laws recently passed in Saudi Arabia were part of an effort to deceive the international community and cover their support for Takfiri groups and Wahhabi mentality that spreads the seeds of extremism and violence in various parts of the world.
The Saudi regime is promoting extremism in the region. It is ironical and absurd for some of Al Saud officials to talk about political solution for the crisis in Syria, at the time they have been escalating their support for the armed terrorist groups operating in Syria. The only objective for Al-Saud is to press ahead with financing and arming lunatic extremists to destroy Syria and cause the downfall of the Syrian state. The Saudis are trying to give money and weapons to the lunatics hoping that they will destroy the Syrian state and contribute to the implementation of the ominous US- Zionist project that aims, among other things to perpetuate the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and revive colonialist dreams of the US and its European allies in dominating the Arab region politically and economically.
The Saudi regime has recently requested the Western governments to hand over large numbers of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles to the takfiri groups in Syria. By so doing, Riyadh is still fanning the flames of turmoil in Syria. The UN should put pressure on Saudi Arabia to give up support for terrorism.
The Saudi involvement in the crisis in Syria aggravated following the failure of Al-Saud family to destroy the Syrian state over the past three years thanks to the heroic deeds of the valiant Syrian army and the steadfastness of Syrian people. Al Saud family increased support for the armed terrorist groups and stepped up cooperation with Israel to achieve their sinister goals. News reports said that Saudi Arabia is seeking to launch a joint operation with Israel to train foreign-backed terrorists operating against Syrian people. Israeli daily Haaretz quoted American military officials as saying that the issue of training militants in Syria was recently raised during a meeting between Israeli Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and General Martin Dempsey, the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Jerusalem. The two discussed the prospects of security cooperation between Tel Aviv and some Arab countries in the Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia. US military officials said the cooperation would also include intelligence-sharing, joint exercises and establishing joint operation rooms in Amman and near the Syrian Turkish borders to plan criminal acts against Syrian people and infrastructure.
If the UN wants a viable political solution for the crisis in Syria, it should put pressure on Saudi Arabia to give up support for terrorism. The UN and other bodies should assume their responsibilities and do whatever they can in order to stop the spill over and the continuation of the bloodshed in Syria and the devastation of the country.
