DAMASCUS- Social reconciliation paves the way for launching a political solution to the crisis in Syria, particularly as the environment of more social reconciliation steps is available, stressed Ali Haidar, the Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs, affirming that such steps will be an introduction for comprehensive national reconciliation in the country.
Interviewed by a German newspaper, Haidar said the Syrian society’s elements of national cohesion have created the suitable environment required for national reconciliation.
Haidar affirmed that national reconciliation steps, achieved in several areas in Syria, were important to attain stability, alleviate citizens’ suffering and restore a strong and united Syrian society.
He pointed out that Geneva2 conference was held without making a link between the conference and the social reconciliation which was going on in the country.
“The forces, which adopt violence, also reject the political solution to the crisis and hinder reconciliation efforts,” Haidar clarified.
He referred to the unavailability of a real international will in Geneva2 conference to push towards a political settlement through having all components of the Syrian society represented.
However, the minister affirmed the Syrian government’s “steadfastness and keenness to meet the requirements of the state and citizens, including free education and medical care, despite all what is happening.”
