Haidar, ICRC Chief Discussed Cooperation in Missing, Kidnapped File

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Minister of State for National Reconciliation, Dr. Ali Haidar discussed with head of delegation of the International Red Cross Committee ICRC in Damascus Boris Michel, yesterday ways to activate cooperation in the file of the missing and kidnapped and providing psycho-social and financial support to their families.

Haider explained during the meeting that national reconciliation in Syria is an integral part of a project to resolve the crisis, calling for the development of a joint action plan between the Ministry and ICRC to promote local reconciliations, noting that areas such as Adra, Adra al-Balad,al-Dukhaniah and part of Jobar will be the ministry’s next targets to achieve inter-reconciliation.

For his part, head of the ICRC mission in Damascus  stressed that “national reconciliation is a step to resolve the crisis in Syria and that several UN organizations are interested in this subject,” referring to the importance of cooperation with the ministry in the files of missing and abducted, providing humanitarian assistance and services, exchange experiences and information and organizing workshops to address the said files.

The meeting was attended by coordinator of ICRC protection section Sylvie Granche and the ICRC chief advisor.
