Guterres warns of a serious risk of dramatic escalation” in Lebanon after pager blasts

New York-(ST)-UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the Israeli aggression by bombing wireless communication devices in Lebanon, which left twenty martyrs and hundreds injured.
Guterres stressed in a press statement published by the United Nations News Center that “civilian objects and tools must not be used as weapons,” adding: “This must be a rule that governments everywhere in the world adhere to.
Guterres considered what happened in Lebanon to be particularly dangerous, not only because of the number of victims it caused, but also because it threatens of a serious risk of a dramatic escalation in Lebanon, calling for “doing everything possible to calm things down and avoid this escalation.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health in the caretaker Lebanese government announced yesterday that twenty people were martyred and more than 450 others were injured in a wave of aggressive Israeli bombings that targeted wireless devices in Lebanon.
