Guterres: The United Nations is committed to resolutions that concern the Palestinian cause

Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, reaffirmed today the International Organization’s commitment to the international and UN Security Council resolutions regarding resolving the Palestinian issue.

“Our position is very clear. We are the guardians of the UN resolutions and international law in relation to the Palestinian issue,” France Press quoted Guterres as saying at a press conference at the United Nations headquarters. “ We are committed to a solution based on the international law, the UNSC and the UN General Assembly and on the 1967 borders”.

Guterres  has recently stressed the United Nations’ adherence to international legitimacy resolutions in response to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the so-called Deal of the Century.

Guterres’ statement came two days before US Presidential Senior Adviser Jared Kushner presented the so-called “Deal of the Century” to the 14 members of the Security Council in a closed session.
