Guterres condemns the terrorist attack on a shrine in the Iranian city of Shiraz

On October 27th, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, strongly condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack on a shrine in the Iranian city of Shiraz, which caused 15 casualties.

The United Nations News Center quoted Guterres as saying in a statement: “Such actions targeting religious sites are heinous,” stressing the need to hold accountable the perpetrators of this crime, which was carried out against civilians exercising their right to practice their religious rites.

Guterres offered his condolences to the families of the victims and the people and government of Iran, and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
