Gulf Wealthy People with Takfiri Mentality Funded Terrorist Groups in Countries of the Region – Tunisian Minister

ALGIERS, (ST)-Tunisian Interior Minister Lutfi bin Jeddo revealed intelligence information about Gulf wealthy people with takfiri mentality funding terrorist groups in several countries in the region. He acknowledged Tunisia’s concerns about the Tunisians who have joined the terrorist groups fighting in Syria.

In a statement to the Algerian “al-Khabar” newspaper published on Saturday, bin Jeddo said the number of the Tunisians who travelled to fight in Syria reached three thousand, noting that five hundred on them were killed.

He unveiled that members of some networks recruiting terrorists and sending them to Syria were arrested.

“Since March 2013, we have succeeded in preventing some 9000 people trying to travel to Syria for fighting along with the armed terrorist groups there,” bin Jeddo said, pointing out that the terrorists returning from Syria and other countries have admitted they belong to terrorist organizations.
