Grospic renews Call for lifting West’s coercive economic measures imposed on Syria

PRAGUE, (ST)- Head of the Czech Parliamentary Friendship Group with Syria Stanislav Grospic has called for lifting the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria, pointing out that the immediate termination of these measures has become an urgent need in the light of Syria’s efforts to confront the spread of coronavirus.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Prague on Wednesday, Grospic said these brutal measures clearly show the inhuman nature of the West’s behavior, stressing that though the western countries themselves are facing difficulties in fighting coronavirus they continue to impose illegal sanctions on Syria and other countries.

The Czech parliamentarian indicated that the practices of the western countries harm the peoples of these countries.

Calls for lifting the economic measures imposed on Syria and other countries have increased recently amid coronavirus crisis.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell called for lifting the coercive measures that have impeded the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria, Iran, Venezuela and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) amid the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus epidemic around the world.
