Griffiths warns of the devastating effects of any Israeli aggression on the city of Rafah

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths warned of the devastating effects and catastrophic situation that would befall the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, if the Israeli occupation forces invaded the city.

The United Nations News Center quoted Griffiths as saying: “The military operations in Rafah may lead to a massacre and may leave the fragile humanitarian operation on the verge of death,” calling for a ceasefire.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres repeatedly calls for a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, because this is the basis for decisive and irreversible steps.

The city of Rafah is the center of humanitarian operations in Gaza Strip, which had a population of 250,000 people, but is now crowded with 1.5 million people, most of whom were forced to flee to there to seek safety from brutal Israeli attacks.
