(Greetings to the teacher and to that person.. Nizar Sabour) An exhibition of Syrian Artists dedicated to honouring their Professor at the Art House Gallery in Damascus

With phrases and paintings collected from different cities of the world that gathered in the appreciation and love of a teacher who spent more than 30 years teaching plastic artists, an exhibition entitled “A Tribute to the Teacher and to That Person… Nizar Sabour” opened at the Art House Gallery in Damascus today.

The exhibition included the works of twelve male and female artists, students of Dr. Nizar Sabour, who organized the exhibition and collected their works from various Arab and foreign countries where they reside after their graduation. Each artist participated in a work he drew in his own style, techniques, and materials, and wrote a letter to Dr. Sabour next to it.

The Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouh, said in a statement to reporters that the exhibition is for Syrian students, professors and graduates, whom we cherish wherever they are, and have proven that they are good seeds  that bear fruit and blossom wherever they land , explaining that the most beautiful aspect of the exhibition other than the techniques, paintings and beautiful subjects is the loyalty and words written by the artists to their teacher, pointing to how good it is for the professor to be honored by his students, and to see them become his colleagues in creativity.

Dr. Nizar Sabour confirmed that a large number of the participating artists have a presence and distinction on the artistic and technical level wherever they are, expressing his great pride in them and his happiness in cooperating with them.

He pointed out that the exhibition is  evidence that the period he spent with them was not without benefit or impact, adding: “Throughout his 32 years of education, he focused on devoting a fundamental conviction that through art we can fight evil,” directing a message to his expatriate students that Syria waiting for them.

As for the artist Sarab Issa, the organizer of the exhibition, she said:’ Dr. Sabbour left a beautiful impact on the hearts of all his students, some of whom were influenced by the style, some of them were affected by the material, and some of them were affected by the technology, and ‘all of them were affected by their love for their teacher.

The artist, Dr. Mahar Daoud, who is one of Dr. Sabour’s students, participated in two works, both of which pour into an ancient visual embodiment as part of a contemporary work, which is the general principle that her teacher works on.

She explained that the first work contains elements related to  a ring dating back to the fourteenth or fifteenth century, from which certain elements were taken to reach a new work entitled “The Rise of a Bird” and used ink, paper and acrylic in it, while the second is dedicated to honoring Dr.Sabour .
