Greek Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox Roman Catholic Patriarchs congratulates president Al-sharaa on assuming Republic’s presidency

DAMASCUS, FEB.1, (ST)- Today, the Greek Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox and Roman Catholic Patriarchs congratulated President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, on the occasion of his assumption of the Presidency of the Republic.

The Syria Arab News Agency reported: “ Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, ,John X , Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Orthodox, Ignatius Aphrem II, and Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Melkite Catholics, Youssef Al-Absi, sent a joint congratulatory cable to President Ahmad Al-Sharaa on the occasion of his assumption of the Presidency of the Republic.

The patriarchs said in their cable: “We congratulate you on your blessed victory and your assumption of your duties as President of the Syrian Arab Republic, praying to God Almighty to grant you strength and wisdom to manage this critical transitional period for the good of the country and its people.”

The cable added: “All sects of the Syrian people have suffered over the past years, but today we are on the threshold of a new history whose main features are safety, freedom and dignity for every Syrian citizen. We expressed our solidarity with all the Syrian people for the rise of the nation and its constitutional institutions.”
