Greek communists stop train with US tanks in Alexandroupolis

Members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth organization KNE stopped a train carrying American tanks from the port of Alexandroupolis to Bulgaria and forced it to turn back.

“Members of the KKE and KNE blocked the train at the Alexandroupolis railway station. They stood in front of the train with banners and flags and forced the train to stop. They demanded that he turn back and that the US-NATO assassins get out of Alexandroupolis and the entire region,” the Communist Party of Greece news website reported.

The website added “the action was successful, and the military equipment was forced to retreat. The train with American tanks returned back” .

The protesters demanded that the city of Alexandroupolis not be transformed into a NATO military base.

The website pointed out that this is not the first time that members of the Communist Party of Greece and the New Communist Youth in Alexandroupolis have carried out such a protest with US and NATO forces, as in April 2022 a similar siege was imposed on a train convoy carrying military equipment and combat vehicles heading to Ukraine.
