Grand Mufti: Syria Will Keep Strong Thanks to People’s Unity

DAMASCU, (ST)- “Syria will keep strong and impregnable thanks to the unity, amity and cooperation among its people, stressed Badr Eddin Hassoun, Syria’s Grand Mufti.

In a lecture on Tuesday, Hassoun said the foreign-backed heinous campaign being launched against Syria, aims at dividing and destroying the Syrian state, undermining the reform steps taken by the government and foiling all national dialogue attempts.  

The Mufti affirmed that the ongoing aggression against Syria and the armed terrorist groups’ acts claimed the lives of a large number of citizens, caused serious destruction to the cities and displaced families.

He urged all opposition parties to drop their weapon, return to Syria and engage themselves in the called-for dialogue.

 “Those who call themselves external opposition will, in the end, find themselves compelled to sit to the dialogue table,” he said, pointing out that the Western countries’ support to the “opposition” aims to guarantee the security of the Zionist entity and justify its establishment.

He stressed that religion is dedicated to serve mankind and enhance human civilization not to kill people and undermine their cultures.
