Grand Mufti: Syria is in the Last Stage of Battle against Terrorism

 

ALGIERS, (ST) – Syria’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Baddruddin Hassoun has stressed that Syria is in the last stage of its battle against terrorism.

Hassoun, who was speaking yesterday at a dinner held by the Syrian Embassy in Algiers, said that “victory is getting closer and Syria is waiting for its sons to start the process of building and reconstruction.”

The Mufti hailed divesity and religious coexistance in Syria, affirming that tolerance and dialogue are important values characterizing the Syrian society.

He urged members of the Syrian community in Algeria to be unified against challenges.

 

He also asserted the seadfastness of the Syrian army, people and leadership in the confrontation of the ongoing terrorist war, pointing out that Syria will restore security and prosperity. 

On his part, the Syrian Ambassador in Algiers Numair Waheeb al-Ghanem stressed the inevitability of Syria’s victory over terrorism thanks to the strong cohesion between its army, people and leadeship.

Hassoun is on a visit to Algeria for talks with several Algerian officials.

Earlier, Hassoun, in an interview with the Algerian “al-Nasr” newspaper on the sidelines of his meeting with the Scholarly Councils in eastern Algeria, said that the terrorism and destruction taking place in Syria in the name of Islam serves only the agenda of the Zionist Israeli entity and its goal of establishing a religion-based state to be recognized by the world.

He aded that “the western states, who claim democracy, are employing our Arab Muslim youths as a tool to undermine the Arab nation using pretexts like sectarianism and regime change.”
