DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, June.23, (ST)-Within the framework of its plan to combat illiteracy, the Directorate of Adult Education and Cultural Development at the Ministry of Culture held a graduation ceremony for five literacy courses that included 61 women from the city.
The ceremony, which was held in cooperation with the Moadamiya Al-Sham Community Beacon in the Syrian Trust for Development and hosted by Al-Andalus Hall, included honoring the top ten women .The ceremony also presented musical, lyrical, theatrical and poetic paragraphs that carry messages about the importance of education and learning.
Director of Manarat Moadamiya,Jaafar Wannous, said that 80 women attended the five literacy courses, 61 of whom obtained a literacy certificate, indicating that the role of the Syrian Trust for Development represented in providing legal and intellectual awareness sessions for women, in addition to interactive activities that help them complete their career.
With great happiness, forty-two-year-old , Fayza Hussein Zahra, expressed her pleasure for being one of the ten distinguished women in these courses.
She said, “It was not easy for me to move around in my town. I have nothing in front of me except transportation signs bearing the names of the regions, and I was not good at reading what was written on them.. Now I am able to deal with my surroundings easely.”
