Governor of Al-Hasakah discusses with OCHA delegation the Turkish occupation’s crime of cutting off water from Alouk station

On July 31st, the Governor of Al-Hasakah, Dr. Louay Sayoh, met with the delegation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA, headed by Marina Holst, Deputy Director of the Office in Syria.

The two sides discussed the repercussions of the crime of cutting off water for more than a million citizens in Al-Hasakah Governorate, as a result of stopping water pumping from the Alouk station by the Turkish occupier.

Sayoh stressed the endeavor to communicate with the countries of the world through the United Nations to work to neutralize the Alouk station and force the Turkish occupier and the terrorists associated with it to allow the technical workshops of the Water Company to reach the station in order to maintain it and pump water to the people again.

Sayoh pointed out that the governorate spares no effort to secure what can be secured of potable water in the light of the continuation of the crime of cutting water, as 2,000 cubic meters are secured daily by tankers and desalination stations, but it is a small amount compared to  the 70,000 cubic meters per day that used to be secured by Alouk station.

Sayoh called on the operating international organizations to increase their serious and effective contribution to alleviate the burden of the citizen.

The OCHA delegation stressed its keenness to cooperate with the governorate and transfer the demands to international partners for discussion and seek to implement them, especially with regard to the water crisis experienced by the people of the governorate.
