Good Nuclear News to Come on April 9, Says Salehi

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi on Monday said that good nuclear news will be announced on the National Nuclear Day (April 9).

Salehi made the announcement while speaking to reporters at the end of his separate meetings with senior religious leaders in the holy city of Qom, about 200 km south of the Iranian capital.

Iranians mark the National Nuclear Day each year in the 20th day of the first month on spring (Farvardin) which falls on April 9 this year, to celebrate their latest nuclear achievements.

Salehi said there was also good news a few days ago about delivery of 149 tons of yellow cake which brought the total reserves of the country to 350 tons in the post-sanctions era.

As to the achievements of the JCPOA, Salehi said that the deal removed obstacles in the way of oil exports as well as banking transactions to that effect.

Some 60 to 70 percent of the sanctions have been lifted after the implementation of the JCPOA, however, other parties should fulfill all their commitments under the landmark deal which was reached between Tehran and six world powers in July 2015 and implemented on January 16, 2016, Salehi said.

The AEOI chief visited Qom on Monday to brief senior clerics in Iran’s religious capital on the latest nuclear developments.
