Gomez: Venezuelan-Syrian Relations Deep-Rooted

Chargé d’Affairs at the Venezuelan Embassy, Joaquín Gomez, stressed the depth of the Venezuelan-Syrian friendship, pointing out the need for solidarity and cooperation between all free countries.

On the sidelines of a special symposium on the Venezuelan municipal and local elections that took place on the 21st of November 2021, and was held by the Venezuelan embassy in Damascus, Gomez said that what links Venezuela with Syria is friendship and cooperation at the international level. In the most difficult times, Venezuela was one of the countries that raised voice to reject any decision that contradicts the rights of the Syrian people. Therefore, the exchange of information about the facts taking place in both countries is very important because this support is strong when it is based on the truth.

Regarding the Venezuelan elections, Gomez said that exchanging facts and figures about the elections with groups and links that support Venezuela is an affirmation of the integrity of the electoral process and the electoral system in Venezuela, noting that the candidates belonging to the political parties that support the national government won 18 states and 205 mayors, and the electoral process was accompanied by about 162 observers who were internationally named on the basis of an invitation from the Venezuelan National Electoral Council to all electoral experts and bodies.

The Venezuelan official pointed out that the electoral process provided the necessary guarantees for the Venezuelan people to fully exercise their freedom and right through voting and participation of the parties of all political spectrum, noting that the Automated National Electoral Council, which organized the elections completely, “is one of the most reliable and secure systems in the world.”

Gomez said: Even the opposition sectors that smear the Venezuelan electoral system from abroad and called to abstain from voting participated in the elections, adding that the Venezuelan people have proven that they are conscious and unstoppable, and the people see that the government represents them.

The Venezuelan municipal and local elections witnessed a good turnout, with the participation of opposition forces and the presence of international observers.
