DAMASCUS,(ST)_Apple yield coming from occupied Golan to Syria’s markets has exceeded 11 thousand tons from both Golden and Starkin types.
Quneitra’s Governor confirmed that apples harvest purchased from the Syrian farmers in the occupied Golan has witnessed transport operations to most parts of the country despite difficult circumstances .
” Great efforts are exerted for marketing apple production to support Golan’s farmers. It is a humanitarian duty to ease their suffering due to occupation arbitrary practices , which are targeting this particular fruit to make it unmarketable because it symbolizes resistance. In the coming weeks , it is expected that the amount of Golan apples will reach to 18 thousand tons.” Quneitra Governor added.
Syrian markets received weeks ago Golan apples in batches under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) via the liberated Quneitra crossing.
About 200 to 300 tons of Golan’s apples are transferred daily to most of Syria’s markets loaded by trucks of the General Establishment of Storage and Marketing.
On his turn, the chairman of occupied Golan Apple Marketing committee in occupied Buq’ata , Said Farhat , expressed satisfaction of Golan’s peasants and farmers regarding the easy crossing of their production to Syria’s markets. Since this fruit is considered the main source of living for the occupied territories’ inhabitants .
“Modern methods of apples storage after harvest in September and October , in modern coolers which keep apples in excellent conditions , and preserve their freshess from season to season . There are eight huge storage coolers distributed in towns and villages of Majdal Shams – Buq’ata the – Mas’adah.” Farhat concluded.
