Global Research: Israel launches its new aggression against Gaza to steal natural gas capabilities of the Strip’s coast

The Canadian Global Research website revealed that the open war that “Israel” has been waging against Gaza Strip for 15 days is a continuation of the 2008-2009 aggression, with the aim of carrying out genocide against the people of Gaza and stealing natural gas reserves off the coast of the besieged Strip.

The website noted, in the context of an article by Canadian writer Michel Chossodowski, professor of economics at the University of Ottawa, and American writer Felicity Arbuthnot, that the primary goal of the current Israeli aggression against Gaza is to occupy it completely and expel its people permanently, in addition to the great financial interests that “Israel” seeks to achieve by stealing reserve capabilities of natural gas off the coast of Gaza.

Geologists and natural resources economists have confirmed that the Occupied Palestinian Territory lies above sizable reservoirs of oil and natural gas wealth, in Area C of the occupied West Bank and the Mediterranean coast off the Gaza Strip.

However the occupation continues to prevent Palestinians from developing their energy fields so as to exploit and benefit from such assets. As such, the Palestinian people have been denied the benefits of using this natural resource to finance socioeconomic development and meet their need for energy.
