Germany reopened its embassy in Damascus today after 13 years of closure, according to the German News Agency.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited Damascus today for the second time since the fall of Assad regime.
The German Foreign Ministry stated that Baerbock will hold talks with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the Foreign Minister and representatives of civil society.
The German’s Special Envoy to Syria Stefan Schneck said “we are pleased to work closely with all Syrians for a better Syria”, adding “unfortunately, our team is still small, so visa and consular affairs will continue to be managed from Beirut for the coming period.”
During her visit to Syria, the German Foreign Minister toured the completely destroyed Jobar neighborhood in Damascus.
