Germany: Boycotting Russian gas a threat to German economy and job market

The Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA) and the German Confederation of Trade Unions (DGB) have affirmed that cutting off natural gas supplies from Russia will stop production and lead to more decline in manufacturing and a decrease in jobs in Germany, according to the German Press Agency (dpa).

Presidents of the two confederations said that the negative impacts of this measure will be more dangerous on the German economy and job market than on Russia.

Many German experts and politicians have stated that their country can’t boycott Russian gas soon, the press agency said.

The German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, expected that Germany will completely abandon gas imports from Russia by the summer of 2024.
