German Foreign Ministry spokesperson: Suspending European sanctions provides space to support the Syrian people
Annika Klazen Idris, spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry in the Middle East and North Africa region, confirmed that the European Union’s decision to suspend some sanctions imposed on Syria provides space to support the Syrian people.
Idris said in a post on her official account on the X platform: “The European Union decided to suspend the sanctions imposed on Syria in the areas of energy, aviation, and finance, and thus we provide a large space for recovery and to support the Syrian people.”
Idris added: “Germany has called and pushed for this step, and thus the European Union is showing its unity and determination on an important political file.”
