German delegation visits Al-Mujtahid Hospital in Damascus

DAMASCUS- A German delegation, led by German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze, today visited Al-Mujtahid Hospital in Damascus to assess the health situation there.

In a statement to jounalists, Schulze explained that the German support will include assistance in building the health system in Syria, through establishing partnerships between health facilities and training cadres by German experts, with the aim of rehabilitating the health sector.

Schulze congratulated the Syrian people on the great achievement they have made by removing the dictatorial rule in Syria.

Concerning the sanctions imposed on Syria, the minister explained that Germany hopes these sanctions will be eased to help reconstruct the health and education sectors and provide the necessary assistance to the Syrian people.

In turn, the Director of the Health Facilities Directorate at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hussein Al-Khatib, indicated that

The German delegation was briefed on the needs of the hospital, promising to work as to send medical experts to provide medical education and transfer German medical expertise to Syria.
