Geological Institute of Poland awards its prize to the Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil

Damascus, (ST) – The Polish Geological Institute awarded the “National Research Institute” the prize for its international drawing competition to the Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil.

The cartoonist Raed Khalil outperformed artists from 52 countries.

The competition, named after the scientist Albert Einstein, was attended by 376 painters. The themes of the drawing competition centered on energy and its peaceful uses in a satirical artistic style.

What distinguished the winning painting by the artist Khalil was its depiction of the atomic energy logo in the form of the metal strip that wraps the old kerosene lamp bottle.

In his critical drawings, Khalil seeks to shed light on social, humanitarian and patriotic issues, as well as the positive and negative aspects of life and society worldwide.

It is noteworthy that the artist Khalil, born in 1973, is a cartoonist for the Al-Baath newspaper and the Syrian Arab TV. He participated in many international exhibitions and won the State Encouragement Award.

He is the editor and supervisor of the Syrian caricature website and director of the Syria International Caricature Festival since its inception and won many local, Arab and international awards.
