All the international parties who have clout in the scene agree that the only solution in Syria is a political one. This is a genuine and reasonable conclusion within the objective rendering of the crisis and its regional and international ramifications let alone the interior dimension after thirty three months from the outbreak of the crisis.
Reaching such a conclusion was perhaps due to losing the bet on disintegrating the Syrian state or toppling the government by military force, political and economic pressure or threatening with external intervention.
The credit belongs to the symbiotic nature between the Syrian armed forces and the Syrian people who stood fast in defending the homeland with an independent decision in managing the crisis in spite of the media fervor rallying at the international level against Syria.
The political solution in the viewpoint of the opposition and its regional and international supporters is merely redeveloping the failure in achieving their targets to come to power by force and violence, saying that the function of the Geneva conference is to formulate the so-called transitional government to hand the power to the opposition under the guise of a political solution. This is evidently clear through some of the opposition representatives who constitute a vague diplomatic mishmash.
From the Syrian point of view, the political solution lies in assimilating the crux and purport of the transitional period which shifts the country from a state of violence and terrorism to a socially stable condition as a first step towards the political and democratic process based on the profound Syrian interior.
There should be no room for any foreign influence in repositioning the Syrian political stand within the ongoing struggle in the region which has been raging for over five decades that really explains the current international wrangling with Syria and its neighbors among the international and regional powers.
Defining priorities of Geneva 2 varies between the interests and desires of foreign powers along with the opposition that aim at grasping power by hook or by crook, and the priorities of the Syrian interior which focuses on stability, security and normal life in addition to tackling the humanitarian dimensions of the crisis characterized by displacement, abduction, arrest and bloodshed.
The definition of such priorities would give a genuine opportunity for the success of the conference in addition to being an acid test to powers that feign enthusiasm to convene, lamenting the deprivation of the Syrians due to the unprecedented terror they have encountered.
The international community is put through its paces where its credibility would be gauged towards the ongoing crisis in Syria which is manifested by crimes, terrorism under the very eyes and ears of the world that is supposed to be a civilized world capable of stemming bloodshed. Undoubtedly, taking either of the options as a priority will administer the solution to the crisis or keep it up in the air.
