General Federation of Trade Unions: The international community should stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon
Damascus, (ST) – The General Federation of Trade Unions condemned the brutal attacks of the Zionist enemy on several areas in Lebanon, which targeted residential neighborhoods, civilians, ambulances and medical centers, and led to the martyrdom and injury of hundreds, including children and women, and the displacement of thousands of innocent civilians.
The General Federation stressed in a statement that these criminal acts would not have occurred without the collusion of the United States of America and the colonial West and their cover-up of the crimes of the Israeli entity that have been ongoing for decades.
The federation expressed its solidarity and full support for the Lebanese people, workers and resistance in confronting this barbaric and cowardly aggression.
The Federation warned of the serious consequences of this Israeli escalation and the expansion of the circle of aggression in the region towards a comprehensive war whose results would be disastrous for everyone.
The federation called on the Arab, regional and international trade union centers, the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in curbing “Israel” and stopping its aggression and arrogance in the region, and holding accountable those responsible for the war crimes committed.
Journalists’ Union condemns Israeli attacks on Lebanon, journalists
In addition, the Journalists’ Union condemned the Zionist aggression on the Lebanese people and its systematic crimes against civilians and Lebanese media cadres.
The union indicated in a statement today, that the enemy practices state terrorism against civilians in unprecedented brutal massacres throughout history, besides its criminal record in occupied Palestine, especially in Gaza, war crimes and genocide, in the light of the silence of the sponsoring countries that provide material, technical and logistical support to the Israeli entity.
The union pointed out that the occupation’s crimes have affected journalists in Lebanon, as Al-Manar TV cameraman Kamel Karaki was targeted and martyred in a Zionist raid on the town of Qantara, and colleague Hadi Al-Sayed, who works for Al-Mayadeen TV, was martyred in a raid that targeted his home in south Lebanon.
The Journalists’ Union called on trade unions and international organizations to expose this entity and condemn its crimes. It stressed that silence on its crimes in Gaza makes it impervious to any accountability and this places the international community before its responsibilities to restrain it and stop its barbaric adventures that threaten the entire region.
