General Establishment of Geology starts producing basalt stone in basalt rich site in Hama countryside

After the recent discovery of basalt deposits in economically feasible quantities in the eastern countryside of Hama, the Hama branch of the General Establishment of  Geology and Mineral Resources started investment in this basalt wealth to produce basalt stones with suitable specifications for construction and cladding works.

Hamed Ibrahim, the director of the establishment’s Hama branch, told SANA on Saturday that after discovering promising quantities of basalt deposits in Al-Barduneh site in Salamiyyeh northern countryside in Hama, the establishment signed an investment contract to produce basalt stone which is known for its good quality in terms of color, solidity and luster.

Ibrahim noted the need to invest in the country’s mineral resources to support the national economy in the light of the current pressing circumstances facing Syria, emphasizing that such investments can achieve good revenues that enhance the state treasury.

On his part, Naser Khleif, the first investor in basalt stone in Al-Barduneh, said that 3000 tons of basalt stone are expected to be produced annually from this site, noting the good specifications of the stone blocks which are under investment.
