General Abbas to the Envoy of the Iraqi Minister of Defense:  Brotherly relations between the two Countries are embodied today in tangible reality

General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Minister of Defense, received this morning, Major General Mazen Hamid Shalal Mahdi, the envoy of the Iraqi Minister of Defense and Counselor Yassin Sharif Al-Hujaimi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Damascus. During this meeting, Major General Mahdi conveyed the condolences of the Iraqi Minister of Defense over the victims of the recent devastating earthquake, which struck several Syrian governorates. He expressed his sincere feelings towards Syria and its people, and stressed Iraq’s brotherly solidarity and readiness to provide all possible support and assistance to alleviate the burdens of this humanitarian disaster.

For his part, the Minister of Defense, valued the attitudes of the Iraq people, government, and leadership, hailed the brotherly historical relations that united the two brotherly countries, which are embodied today in  tangible reality and a rush to provide aid and assistance to the Syrian people in facing this ordeal.
