General Abbas: Syria is progressing steadily towards achieving a final victory over terrorism
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, affirmed that Syria, with the support of friendly countries, is progressing steadily towards achieving the final victory over terrorism and restoring stability, stressing the necessity of all foreign forces present illegally on the Syrian territory to pull out so that the Syrian State is able to invest its national resources which are being looted and stolen.
General Abbas said in a speech today during his participation in the Tenth Moscow Conference on International Security: “I am pleased to participate with you today for the first time in this important and rich meeting of cooperation for the good of our countries and all our people.”
General Abbas indicated that the region of the Middle East and Africa has a long history, distinguished culture and rich resources, which made the ME vulnerable to colonialism and external interference under bright titles and names, but with false content, which led to the intertwining of conflicts and affected the development process significantly. In many cases, terrorism, its supporters and financers were the main tools to destabilize security, creating chaos and destroying the capabilities of states. This external interference has reached the point of direct military aggression, as happened in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and others.
General Abbas added, “Our meeting today comes in light of important developments that the entire world is witnessing as a result of the continued spread of the “Covid 19” epidemic,which imposes on our countries great economic challenges, especially the countries of our Arab region and Africa, which were and are already suffering from terrorism and wars. The challenges facing the world are becoming more serious with the continuing American-Western conspiracy against Russia in an attempt to besiege and isolate it in order for the US to create an unstable region around the Russian Federation, starting with Ukraine, with the aim of putting pressure on Moscow and preventing the Kremlin from continuing the rise and progress Russia has achieved, which began to chart the features of a new world order and the end of the unipolar system.
General Abbas stressed the need for everyone’s efforts to focus on ensuring a future that is based on respect for international law and the establishment of normal relations between states based on respect for rights, principles of sovereignty, equality, common interests and independent will. General Abbas added: “Syria, despite the terrorist war that has continued for 11 years, has been steadfast thanks to the great sacrifices made by our people and army in defense of our land and sovereignty.
The Minister of Defense renewed Syria’s call on the international community to put pressure on the US to lift the unjust coercive measures imposed on it by the United States and some regional and Western regimes.
Minister Abbas stressed the necessity of stopping the continuous Israeli aggressions on Syrian territory, which constitute a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and independence, international covenants and the relevant Security Council resolutions.
General Abbas affirmed that Russia, with its political and military leadership, headed by President Vladimir Putin, and in cooperation with its friends, is able to put an end to American arrogance and European intransigence, restore things to normal, and impose respect for international law on everyone who tries to tamper with it and upset its balance.
General Abbas stressed that Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, is looking forward to strengthening cooperation with friendly and allied countries in all fields, especially in the field of combating terrorism, reconstruction and consolidating security and stability in the region and the world.
