Gulf Cooperation Council secretary general Jassim Al-Badawi said: “during my participation in the Paris conference, I confirmed that the GCC countries have been and will continue to be a major supporter of the Syrian people.”
Badawi went on to say:” the repeated Israeli attacks are flagrant violations of Syrian sovereignty and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, and the international community must shoulder its responsibilities to stop these attacks, and pressure for Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied Syrian territories.”
“Syria must be economically empowered, as the sanctions imposed on it hinder reconstruction efforts, burden the Syrian people, and prevent the recovery of the economy. They must be lifted to facilitate the return of refugees to their homeland, and allow international financial institutions to contribute to the reconstruction process, which is a prerequisite for stability .” Al-Badawi concluded .
