Exporters in the Turkish province of Gaziantep expressed their optimism about the Syrian market and their desire to increase exports to Syria.
Head of the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Adnan Unverdi told Anadolu Agency that the Turkish industrialists aim to increase their exports to Syria to a higher level with the start of the new phase after the downfall of the former regime.
He added: There is an 8 percent increase in our exports to Syria in 2024, and cooperation between the two countries will increase our regional trade.
According to data from the Exporters Association of the Southeastern Anatolia Region, Gaziantep province exported 85 percent of the region’s total exports, which amounted up to 11.7 billion dollars last year.
Iraq came first in the list of countries to which Gaziantep exported its products followed by the United States and then Syria.
