Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital Director warns of ‘imminent disaster’

Director of the Shifa Hospital in Gaza, Mohammed Abu Salimia, has warned of an imminent disaster in the hospital and across the entire region.

During a press briefing Wednesday, Abu Salimia stated that vital sections of the hospital would cease operations within hours due to fuel depletion.

He emphasized that the world must allow fuel supplies into the Gaza Strip before it is too late.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qudra, mentioned that the medical staff have only a few hours before the main power generator stops working at both Shifa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital.

Qudra pleaded urgently to all oil-producing countries to intervene promptly and provide Shifa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital with fuel to save the lives of the wounded and the patients.

He continued, “We urgently call on the countries of the world to save 42 children on life support machines in neonatal units, along with 62 patients and wounded individuals on artificial respiration, 650 patients with kidney failure, hundreds undergoing surgeries in operating rooms, and others among the sick and wounded.”

Qudra also appealed to all fuel station owners and the Palestinian people, urging anyone with any quantity of fuel or knowledge of a location with fuel to supply Shifa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital with it to save the lives of the wounded and the patients.
