Gaza Media Office: Israeli occupation deliberately exacerbates humanitarian situation in the strip

OCCUPIED Al-QUDS, May.7, (ST)_The Gaza Media Office has asserted that the Israeli occupation deliberately exacerbates the humanitarian situation by closing the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, and bombing homes, hospitals and schools through its aggression against areas east of the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip.

The office said in a statement released today: “To complete the genocidal war waged by the occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip from north to south, the occupation decided to aggravate the humanitarian situation in a catastrophic way, by killing more civilians, children and women, whose number hit within 12 hours more than 35 martyrs, as well as stopping the entry of aid, closing the Rafah and Karam Abu Salem crossings, taking hospitals out of service, and targeting schools that house hundreds of thousands of displaced people.”

The office added: “The situation in the east of Rafah indicates a real humanitarian catastrophe, not only in Rafah alone, but extends to include the entire sector, which has been experiencing a tragic state of systematic starvation and lack of supplies and aid for 7 months, which requires immediate and urgent international intervention to pressure the occupation to stop the aggression on Rafah and the genocidal war.”

The media office condemned in the strongest terms the continuing murders committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people, the occupation army’s storming and closing of the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings, its decision to stop aid and to force medical teams, the wounded, the sick and the displaced to evacuate hospitals, schools and shelter centres.

It held the American administration responsible for the continuation of the war of extermination and the failure of international community’s efforts to stop it.
