Director of the Anti-Terrorist Coordination Unit [Unité de Coordination de la lutte Anti Terroriste (UCLAT)] Loïc Garnier has declared that the number of French persons, who joined ISIS in Syria and Iraq reached up to 700 out of 3000 European ISIS affiliates.
In a recent statement to the French ‘Le Figaro’ newspaper, Garnier said that the number of foreign terrorists affiliated to ISIS was 30000 in 2015 and it reduced to 12000 at present.
“France is at the forefront of European countries that export terrorists to ISIS,” Garnier stressed, indicating that around 232 French terrorists took part in ISIS crimes in Syria and Iraq.
There are still 290 French women plus 460 children in ISIS-held areas, according to the French official, who added that one-third of those children were born there.
He expressed concern over the return of French terrorists and their families to France.
“Over 200 French terrorists returned to their homeland in an illegal way,” Garnier concluded.
Last year, 17 attempts to carry out terror attacks in France were foiled, according to the French government.
