DAMASCUS,(ST)_ French Lawyer has underscored the possibility of prosecuting foreigners, who perpetrated crimes against the Syrian people during the ongoing crisis, in accordance with Syria laws.
Damian Vikiye pointed out that there are prosecution cases in the French courts against the French Foreign Minister for Syrian citizens affected by terrorism.
France is among other western countries that have been involved in shedding the Syrian blood through arming terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
The French lawyer’s remark came during a symposium held today in Damascus on ‘Terrorism and State’s sovereignty in the light of international law’.
The symposium was organized by the Syrian Civil Commission for Victims of Violence and Terrorism at the ‘Dama Rose’ Hotel.
Head of the ‘Mediterranean Sea Society’, Lawyer Mohammad Bakkar, from Tunisia defined terrorism as terror acts contradict legitimacy and aims to instil fear in civilians through attacking State institutes and spreading unrest for political purposes.
He said the Syrian people would achieve victory over the conspiracy that target them.
For her part, Head of ‘Stage a sit-in in Mediterranean Basin’, Dr. Ratebeh al-Meladi, said that the countries which are hosting refugees must protect refugees and ensure their requirements under the international law.
‘Piracy’
Representative of the Union of Arab Jurists (UAJ) at the United Nations Dr. Elias al-Khouri described the economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people as ‘piracy’ and has no legal basis because they were not issued by the UN Security Council. “The sanctions on Syrian people are but one of ways of war and tyranny being practiced by western states against Syria.”
Dr. Aysar al-Midani, chairperson of NOSTIA [Network of Syrian Scientists, Technologists and Innovators Abroad] said the Syrian people are facing terrorist organizations that trace their roots back to Haganah in Palestine.
She underlined necessity of developing human resources to confront the crisis Syria is going through.
Head of the Syrian Civil Committee for Violence and Terrorism causes, Jadallah Qaddour, stressed that Syrians’ steadfastness is the only retaliation against terrorism which is supported by Arab, regional and international states.
“Conspiracy targets the Syrian people’s unity and their national stances and it aims at spreading chaos in the region for the interest of the Zionist entity [Israel],” he clarified.
