France calls on the Turkish regime to stop all interference in the Nagorno Karabakh region

PARIS, (ST) – French President Emmanuel Macron renewed his demand for the Turkish regime to stop all forms of interference and provocation regarding the conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region.

“France insists that Turkey stop all forms of provocation and interference in the conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region, and Turkey should not bargain on a future agreement,” RIA Novosti News Agency quoted Macron as saying in a statement issued by the Elysee.

Earlier today, the French Foreign Ministry called on the Turkish regime not to take steps that contradict the ceasefire agreement in Karabakh.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said in a statement that, “we await clarifications on the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and its results,” stressing the need to launch negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan to find a lasting solution to the conflict.

The Kremlin announced earlier today that the Russian and Azerbaijani presidents and the Armenian Prime Minister signed a joint declaration on a ceasefire in the region, stressing that the tripartite agreement does not include any reference to the possibility of deploying Turkish forces in the region.
