The Four Seasons Market for handicrafts is an idea based on the exchange of products between women from all segments of society, whether from their production or from surplus of the needs of their family .
The market, which is held at the beginning of each season of the year, has recently reopened its doors and displays the work of the participants in it at the Hassiba Mosque in Mashroa Dummar. The market helps the participants to acquire things they need, especially in light of the current circumstances.
One of the participants noted that the Four Seasons Market brings together productive women in an exhibition to exchange items that form a surplus to the family’s need to sell them at low prices, which strengthens solidarity and social ties.
Hana Al-Akash, Executive Market Director, said that the market includes high-quality artistic handicrafts from antiques and glassware produced by women of different groups and ages. Some women made art pieces from the remnants of used fabrics.
Another participant indicated that she exhibited some accessories, clothes and a number of different household items, while another one showed that she recycles worn fabrics and re-sews them into various products for family members, such as quilts, fabric dolls, bed sheets, pillows, and others, using needle and thread tools.
Another participant noted that she presented food products that she made by hand and that she preserved, stored and packaged in an attractive way.
One of the visitors said that the various handcrafted products show the creativity and patience of women despite all the circumstances in order to support their families.
