Industrial zones in Lattakia province provide suitable environment for practicing different kinds of handcrafts and industries including food, textile, chemical, wood industries as well other professions like car repair and building materials manufacturing. They also create a number of jobs opportunities for citizens and craftsmen.
“There are 4 industrial zones under construction in Lattakia in addition to a project for expanding the industrial zone in Jableh,” Engineer Mohammed Ali, Director of Industrial Zones in Lattakia province, said in a recent statement to SANA correspondent.
He noted that there are two industrial zones under investment in Lattakia and in Jabla. The area of the industrial zone in Lattakia is 3500 dunums with 3100 sections which include various crafts and industries and is supplied with all basic services such as infrastructure, electricity, telephone and sewage.
“The area of the industrial zone of Jableh is 145 dunums and it includes 630 sections. The zone contains all necessary services and it is put under investment for various industries and crafts” Eng Ali added.
He made it clear that the expansion project of the industrial zone in Lattakia was launched at a cost of 1.6 billion SYP to transfer all the car offices from the Lattakia city center and assemble them in one place. The project is implemented by the General Company for Building and Construction and it is expected to be completed in less than a year.
Concerning the projects of the new industrial zones, eng. Ali indicated that work is underway regarding the expansion project of the industrial zone in Jableh with an area of 130 dunums, in addition to the construction of another industrial zone in Derotan with an area of 270 dunums and at a value of SYP 1.8 billion. Moreover, Eng. Ali said, the industrial zone in the city of Al-Hafah covers an area of 100 dunums and it includes 190 industrial and handicraft sections.
The area of the industrial zone in the village of Fedra is 350 dunums and it includes 331 industrial and handicraft sections, while the area of the industrial zone in the village of Qerdaha is 30 dunums with 140 sections and it is implemented by the Military Housing Establishment.
Eng. Ali affirmed that carrying out the industrial zones projects is an important and qualitative step that creates many job opportunities and organizes and assembles all professions and crafts in one area. It also puts an end to random industrial activities within the cities and facilities getting better services, attracting investors and securing large financial returns to the treasury through investment and through the revitalization of industries, professions and crafts.
