Former US Secretary of Defence: Trump tries to divide the US

Washington (ST): Former US Secretary of Defense James Mathis severely criticized US President Donald Trump , accusing him of trying to divide the US.

France Press Agency quoted Mathis as saying in a statement published on The Atlantic Magazine Website that Trump was the first President in the history of the United States that does not try to unify the Americans, and instead of that he has been working to divide them.

Several US newspapers had said that once again Trump failed to confront the chronic and accumulative problems facing the US.

Trump has been dealing ineffectively with the massive protests that erupted in the US following the killing of an American citizen of African origin by policemen. Moreover, he aggravated the situation when he described the protestors as bullies, threatened to open fire against them and use excessive military force to curb the protests.
