Damascus, (ST) _ Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, stressed its efforts to improve the foreign trade policy to identify seasonal import priorities and in accordance with the requirements of balance in the exchange rate of the Syrian pound against foreign currencies.
The ministry said in a statement that the most prominent of these priorities is to secure the necessary needs of the market to ensure basic food commodities and materials used in the food industry, like rice, tea, oil, Ghee, canned food, especially tuna, sardines, dates.
The Ministry of Economy adopts a new policy to import basic foodstuffs during Ramadan to reduce the prices of commodities.
The statement pointed out that the ministry is working in cooperation with the economic actors to give priority to finance imports of fundamental materials and production requirements basic and essential goods.
