Foreign Ministry: Israel is rogue entity against international legitimacy as dangerous as Daesh, al-Nusra

Syria has renewed its call on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities within the framework of the United Nations Charter and to oblige the Israeli occupation entity to respect its decisions related to the Separation of Forces Agreement and to hold all parties that support terrorism and launch attacks on Syrian sovereignty accountable.

In a letter sent by the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry to the UN Secretary-General   and the President of the Security Council regarding the Israeli aggression on Syrian territory on Tuesday, the Ministry said: At 23.36 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, the Israeli occupation authorities launched a new act of aggression on the territories of the Syrian Arab Republic, by launching successive missiles from Lebanese territory, targeting the central and southern regions.

The Ministry added: The Israeli aggression coincides with the continuation of armed terrorist groups that commit cowardly terrorist acts against the Syrian people in some areas. This aggression also comes within the framework of the systematic propaganda campaign led by the United States of America and its allies of some Western countries at such a time of every year to extend the effects of Security Council Resolution 2165 on the illegal Cross-Border Assistance Mechanism under false and flimsy allegations claiming their concern about the humanitarian situation in Syria.

“Syria affirms once again that the continued terrorist practices of the Israeli occupation authorities against Syria and some countries and peoples of the region  would not have occurred without the American and Western care and protection for them. Finding illegal or immoral justifications for them also encouraged Israel to continue its aggression and arrogance, which may lead to consequences which those countries will bear international responsibility for their repercussions. Syria is sure that these countries know the truth that “Israel” is a rogue entity  and it works against international legitimacy and it poses a threat to international peace and security, and that it’s as dangerous as the terrorist organizations of Daesh (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra,” the Ministry pointed out.

The Ministry added: The Syrian Arab Republic affirms that the repeated Israeli attacks on its lands have not and will not succeed in making it abandon its principles or dissuade it from restoring the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of June 4, 1967 in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions. They will not succeed in undermining the will of Syrian people to realize their hopes and aspirations on rebuilding their country, which “Israel” and some countries and their agents have tried to destroy. They will not succeed in distracting the Syrian Arab Army from its continued fight against Takfiri terrorism. The Israeli attacks will not succeed in dissuading Syria from exercising its right to defend its land, people and sovereignty by all means guaranteed by the United Nations Charter and the provisions of international law.

The ministry noted that Syria has repeatedly called on the Security Council to condemn the repeated Israeli attacks on the sovereignty and integrity of its territories and to take immediate and decisive measures to suppress these attacks and hold Israel accountable for them. Based on the belief of the Syrian Arab Republic as a founding member of the United Nations in the role of international legitimacy, it continues to demand the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities  in  maintaining international peace and security, and to obligate Israel to respect its resolutions related to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement and to hold all parties that support terrorism and launch attacks against Syrian sovereignty accountable for their terrorism and crimes against the Syrian people. All these attacks constitute flagrant violations of the United Nations Charter, and the provisions of international law and Security Council resolutions No. 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all international resolutions and instruments related to combating terrorism.
